There’s already a Change.org petition against the passing of Amendment One, which banned same-sex marriage, civil unions, and domestic partnerships in North Carolina. These things actually tend to be pretty damn effective.
Let’s see what the power of Tumblr can do! I know there’s at least a million Tumblr users who are against this sort of harmful discrimination and bigotry.
Sign the petition and reblog to spread the word, please!
At the same time, I’ve lost respect for the close-minded people around me.
“Settle Down” - Kimbra
So I have recently discovered the music of Kimbra, an artist from New Zealand who is currently most known for being featured in Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know.”
I’ve just come to love the cool things she can do to her voice, and I wish that she could become better known, especially in the States.
And I swear I’ve heard “Settle Down” before in a commercial or something with the “I wanna raise a child” line. But oh well, I can’t remember.

And of course…
Needless to say, I am now anti-bullfighting.
Now I’m not the biggest animal rights activist or anything, but I do value proper and humane treatment of animals.
I don’t get the point of gathering in an arena to watch an animal get poked and prodded until it ultimately reaches the inevitable fate of death. The bull fights only because it is provoked by man, and all it is looking for is an escape back into the open fields in which it grew accustomed to. They said in the video that they try to make the death quick so that the animal does not suffer long. But is the animal not suffering as it is repeatedly being stabbed with banderillas (barbed sticks), taunted by the matadors, and watched by a crowd that cheers for its death? The video also stated that the death of the bull in a bullfight would be more honorable than if it had died in the slaughterhouse. Personally, I feel that the bullfight is degrading towards the animal, as it celebrates its death, rather than its life. I almost feel that it is better if a bull dies in the slaughterhouse, because then no one would have to watch, and it would not be such a huge spectacle. Once the bull dies in the ring, its body is dragged by a team of mules, and they lap the arena. This is supposed to be showing “honor” to the bull. But even the video said that this is mostly for the audience, and it “does nothing for the bull.” Well, of course it doesn’t; the bull is dead.
Sorry for the length. I just felt a little irritated today knowing that this sort of “sport” still goes on today.
